At Aesthetic Med Studio, we offer both laser hair removal and waxing services.

Our laser hair removal device is one of the most advanced lasers available on the market, and our waxing services are always done as smoothly and pain-free as possible (pun intended). However, with so many different options, it can be hard to know which one is the best for you.

Cost Breakdown

Waxing

Waxing is by far the most expensive form of hair removal. According to American Laser Centers, women will spend $23,000 on average (lifetime) with waxing. A Brazilian wax will often cost between $60-80 per month (around $70 average), and if you go every month for a year, you will have spent $840 total (not including gratuity) for waxing.

Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is often more expensive per session, but the longevity of the result is much longer. We charge $150 per session for Brazilians, and most people need about 6 sessions to get results that they are happy with. However, that puts you at $900 total, and the hair is gone for good (besides the occasional touch-up in a year or so). This treatment only takes about 6 months to achieve lasting results.

Pain Scale

Waxing

We have all heard or experienced how difficult this one can be–even for the most skilled esthetician or specialist, waxing is never a comfortable treatment. With that being said, pain tolerance always differs, and there are mixed reviews on pain with waxing. Some people will feel discomfort, some people will not, but it should never be painful enough to cause tears to run down your face.

Laser Hair Removal

Every LHR device is created differently. Saying “I have a laser hair removal machine”, is kind of like saying “I have a car”. Some are a much more comfortable ride than others. With that being said, our device is the most comfortable laser hair removal machine on the market. It consistently cools the skin, while the treatment is going on. So, the discomfort is nearly undetectable.

Decision Time…

Waxing

One of the biggest downfalls that we run into with waxing is that you have to let the hair grow out, and then the foliculitis (bumpy, pimple-like rash) that often appears afterwards. Other than that, waxing is a fairly easy process that does not require you to shave at all. Your hair will thin over the course of time but you will always have to continue waxing.

Laser Hair Removal

If you choose to start laser hair removal, we always recommend that you stop waxing for a month before the LHR treatment. That’s because we need a ‘hair follicle’ in the skin to target. The good news is that you do not have to let the hair grow out, actually you will achieve better results and less discomfort during the treatment if you shave the morning of the treatment. Many people will ask “will shaving cause my hair to get thicker”; the answer to this is no. With the laser hair removal treatments you will achieve beautiful results with little to no irritation to the skin after the treatment.

Overall, both options are great ways to reduce the maintenance of hair growth

Waxing is more of an immediate result, whereas laser hair removal is the more long-term solution.
