Treatable Conditions

Acne

Acne is a common skin condition that can affect people of all ages. In many cases, acne can be severe and persistent, causing scarring and emotional distress. At Aesthetic Med Studio, we offer advanced light treatments and laser therapy for acne and acne scarring.

Acne occurs when hair follicles become clogged with dead cells, oil, and bacteria. Factors such as hormones, diet and stress can contribute to acne breakouts. Follicles that are completely clogged produce whiteheads, while follicles that are open to the air may darken and cause blackheads. Clogged follicles that become infected can lead to painful, inflamed lesions.

The best treatment program for you depends on the type and severity of your acne. Oral or topical antibiotics may reduce acne symptoms for some people. Light therapy can also destroy the bacteria that lead to infection and inflammation.

Acne Scars

Acne often leaves small scars or indentations where the skin has the appearance of a volcanic crater. Physical acne scars are sometimes referred to as “ice pick” scars because of the indentation in the skin’s surface. Acne scarring can range from very moderate and localized to very significant and extensive.

Facial Veins

Visible facial veins, which have many different names (spider veins, telangiectasias, spider angiomas, benign vascular lesions), are actually dilated blood vessels. They are usually found on the forehead, nose, cheeks, eyelids, neck, and upper chest. Blood vessel dilation is due to weakening of the elastic fibers in the walls of the blood vessel.

Visible veins are associated with excessive sun exposure, normal aging, steroid use, liver disease, genetics, radiation therapy, and trauma. On the face, visible veins can range in size from the tip of a pencil to bigger than a pencil eraser. Visible veins may be even larger on sites

At Aesthetic Med Studio, we enjoy helping our clients improve their appearance with the latest in anti-aging and aesthetic treatments. Our treatments for facial veins include IPL/BBL photo rejuvenation.

Hyperpigmentation

Hyperpigmentation is the darkening of an area of skin caused by increased skin pigmentation, or melanin. Hyperpigmentation may be caused by sun damage, inflammation, or other skin injuries, including those related to acne vulgaris. People with darker skin tones (such as Asian, Mediterranean or African) are also more prone to hyperpigmentation, especially if they have had excess sun exposure. Melasma is a form of hyperpigmentation found on some women due to changes in hormone levels.

Aesthetic Med Studio offers a wide variety of proven treatments for hyperpigmentation including:

  • BBL/IPL Photo Rejuvenation\
  • MicroLaser Peel

Leg Veins

Visible veins in the legs can be unsightly, and may cause pain and discomfort in some cases. Approximately 50% of people over the age of 50 suffer from varicose veins, which are large, bulging veins that often occur on the legs. Because veins in the legs endure the most pressure, valves in the vein can sometimes malfunction, resulting in a backup of blood that causes the vein to swell.

Spider veins are similar to varicose veins but smaller. Factors such as hormonal changes, weight gain, or pregnancy can contribute to spider veins.

Melasma

Melasma is a common skin disorder characterized by a dark skin discoloration, normally found on sun-exposed areas of the face. Though it can affect anyone, young women with brownish skin tones are at greatest risk. Melasma is often associated with the female hormones estrogen and progesterone. It is often referred to as the “mask of pregnancy” and is especially common in pregnant women, women who are taking oral contraceptives, and women taking hormone replacement therapy.

Aesthetic Med Studio offers a variety of procedures for effectively treating melasma, including:

Nail Fungus

Toenail fungus, also called onychomycosis, affects 50% of all Americans over the age of 40. A nail fungus infection may begin as a white or yellow spot under the tip of your fingernail or toenail. As the nail fungus spreads deeper into your nail, it may cause your nail to change color, thicken and develop crumbling edges — an unsightly and potentially painful problem.

Nail fungal infections can occur after exposure to warm, moist environments where fungus grows, such as public pools or locker room showers. Skin or nail injuries can increase your risk of contracting a nail fungus infection. If not properly sanitized, nail care equipment can also spread fungus.

Rosacea

Rosacea is a chronic condition characterized by facial erythema (redness). Rosacea typically begins as redness on the central face across the cheeks, nose, or forehead, but can also affect the neck, chest, ears, and scalp.

Symptoms may include dry or rough patches of skin, itching, burning, or a tendency to blush or flush easily. Many people with rosacea also develop small visible blood vessels on their face as well, known as telangiactasia.

Aesthetic Med Studio offers the most advanced treatments for rosacea, including:

  • BBL/IPL photo rejuvenation
  • 1064 nd:yag laser
