“Lip filler hurts really bad!” – FICTION 

Every injector injects differently. The truth is that your pain will depend entirely upon the technician; some injectors are more skilled than others but the key factor that makes one experience less painful than another is the technician’s ability to create a relaxing environment for their patients.

At Aesthetic Med Studio we also offer a topical lidocaine to apply 30 min before the procedure. Additionally, the technicians continually interview patients, asking them to rate their experience on a scale of 1 – 10 (10 being extremely painful); more often than not the pain level does not exceed a 4. While the injection isn’t completely insensate, it is relatively painless! Understandably, having a needle poke your lips is an unusual feeling and not something you’d want to feel every day; however, when you go to someone as skilled as the technicians at Aesthetic Med Studio, the worst part about lip injections is truly the anxiety before the treatment.

“My lips will go back to normal after the filler wears off.” – FACT

How long your results will last varies based on the product that you choose, but a good ballpark for optimal results is 6-8 months. After the product is metabolized by your body, your lips will return to the same shape and size that they were before the injection. The longer you keep up with your lip fillers, the longer they tend to last. Juvederm Vollure and Restylane Kysse have both been clinically tested as the longest-lasting on the market. It’s important to understand, though, that the longer a product lasts in the lips, the less volume it will give. “Juvederm gives the ‘most natural look’ for dermal fillers.” – FICTION 

When it comes to all injectables, your results are going to be determined 90% from the injector and 10% from the product. The 10% that the product is going to control is: 

• Consistency (how it feels when it is in your lips) 
• Volume (different products are approved for different volumes) 
• Length of time it lasts (different products are approved for different lengths of time)

Everything else including symmetry, the natural look, artistic balance, and harmonization (the correct lip to face ratio) is going to be determined by your injector. At Aesthetic Med Studio we often tell people that when you buy a syringe of filler, you’re not only buying the product but the experience of the artist who will be injecting you. We love Juvederm but the truth is, when you go to a Master Injector (such as the ones we have at Aesthetic Med Studio) the injector is the one who actually creates the natural look.

“All dermal filler products for the lips are the same.” – FICTION

There are many different brands!  The favorites of a medical spa will come down to the injector. However, not all brands are the same. As of now, the best two on the market for lips are Juvederm and Restylane. These two products are the Gold Standard when it comes to product quality, versatility, consistency, and length of time that they last. We are fully confident in every product that these brands offer, which is why we carry every product in each of these lines.

There are other products on the market, such as a newer one called Versa (Revanesse Versa), that are not at the level of quality that Restylane or Juvederm provide. Versa is a cheaper product for a medical spa to purchase but is often sold at the same price as the Gold Standard products. In a trial of 50 patients, around ½ of them claimed that they were unsatisfied compared to their previous results with Restylane or Juvederm. The things that Versa patients were routinely unhappy with: 

• Consistency of the product: it has a high chance of balling up on the lips 
• Length of time it lasts: most patients reported it lasted 1.5-2 months less than other products 
• Volume achieved (or rather, unachieved): on average patients had to use 1.5 – 2 syringes to achieve the same results as 1 syringe of Restylane Lyft or Juvederm Plus.
