When to Start Anti-Aging Aesthetic Treatments

First and foremost, it’s important to keep in mind that everyone ages differently and it is crucial to go to a reputable, trusted source for aesthetic treatments. This is a merely ‘guide’ for those who are curious when a ‘good age’ is to start aesthetic procedures. When it comes to anti-aging, there are so many incredible non-surgical options that if done correctly can actually decrease the need for surgical options such as a ‘facelift’. Below, we will outline a general timeline to begin each procedure so in order to avoid the ‘heavy lifting’ later in life and keep aging at a distance. Keep in mind that it is truly never too late to start with any of these treatments.

Teens and Early Twenties:

SUN PROTECTION and ANTIOXIDANTS

We can not put enough emphasis on protecting your skin from the sun. Stop going to the tanning beds, and reapply sunscreen once every few hours at the pool or lake. The sun is one of the biggest factors in early aging, and can have seriously damaging effects over time.

What are Antioxidants? Antioxidants are naturally occurring vitamins and minerals — like vitamins A, C, E, and green. tea — these antioxidants protect your skin against free radicals. Two of our favorites are in our Signature Skincare Line: Green Tea & Vitamin E Antioxidant Serum and our Vitamin C Serum.

How do they help? Antioxidants neutralize free radicals to help protect your skin from damage and aging. The antioxidants that we carry here at Aesthetic Med Studio will also brighten your skin, calm irritation, and may smooth out some of your fine lines.

Twenties:

MEDICAL GRADE FACIALS

It is never too early or too late to start your medical-grade facial routine. These are a great option for multiple reasons. Since everyone’s skin is different it is important to choose a provider that not only specializes in all skin types, but also utilizes multiple types of devices for facials. For instance, a device such as microdermabrasion is incredibly effective in helping remove dead skin cells off of the top layer of skin. This will assist the cellular turnover process in creating healthier skin. Medical Grade Facials are amazing for both younger patients struggling with acne and older patients who are trying to maintain a healthy skin glow.

Mid-Twenties to Thirties:

NEUROMODULATORS and RETINOIDS

Just about everyone has heard of Botox and Retinols, but often don’t realize that one size does not fit all. Both Neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin) and Retinols should be tailored to the individual. For example: A person in their 50’s should be using more units and a higher dosage of retinol than a person who is 27 years old.

*Side note on Neuromodulators, if you ever see it sold per area, run. This is not an accurate way to sell because a person in their 50’s should typically be using more units in an area than someone in their late 20’s. Along with this, we typically see people who start early use less units per age than someone who is starting later in life.*

We carry several different types of Retinoids and Retinol strengths here at Aesthetic Med Studio, and we also offer the most popular choices for Neuromodulators (Botox, Xeomin, Dysport). To learn the differences please give us a call or send us a direct message on Facebook or Instagram (@AestheticMedStudio)

Late Twenties to Early Thirties:

DERMAL FILLERS

When done correctly, dermal fillers should be subtle and natural. People often think of dermal fillers as ‘anti-aging’, but the truth is that dermal fillers are used to provide volume in places where you have lost it or where you have never had it. When you start Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Fillers your body will begin to assist in the collagen creation process. We often notice that the more consistent you are with your dermal fillers the longer they will last. A few of the most common areas that we see used with these fillers are:

  • Jaw Sculpting
  • Chin (adding volume to a receded chin)
  • Lips
  • Tear Trough
  • Cheeks

The goal with dermal fillers is not to change the way that you look but to enhance your current features, so when you go to a highly trained Master Injector you will have beautifully natural enhanced results.

Dermal fillers aren’t just for those past their late twenties. We have many people who come in their early twenties for all types of dermal fillers. The most common procedure for these patients are Lip Fillers with products such as Restylane, Juvederm, or Revance RHA.

Thirties to Early Forties

SKIN RESURFACING, RF DEVICES, PDO THREADS

As we begin to stop producing as much collagen in our early 30’s, this leads to increased signs of aging over the next few years. While most collagen creams and skincare will not to be able to keep up, PreJuvenation is getting ahead of the curve. The goal with resurfacing is to help your body create new collagen, and one of the best ways to do that is through laser or device options. We highly recommend devices such as INTRAcel (Microneedling + Radio Frequency), Lasers such as the Sciton Joule (MicroLaser Peel, ProFractional, BroadBand Light), or the Edge Elite CO2 Fractional Resurfacing. These devices will actually create new collagen and elastin, turning back the hands of time. By creating new collagen and tightening the skin, it pushes back the aging process and you will not age nearly as quickly as your peers.

PDO Threads are quickly becoming a modernized popular way to give the face a quick lift. With little to no downtime, and long lasting results a PDO Lift can help with:

  • Pre Jowls
  • Marionette Lines (Smile/Laugh Lines)
  • Fine Lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Skin Texture
